Jeju Hallim Park is a green paradise that
stands as the testament to the pioneering spirit of entrepreneur Bong-Gyu Song,
who planted palm tree seeds on over 330,000m2 of wasteland in 1971.
Prominent
figures from all over the world, such as Jiang Zemin, who served as President
of the People’s Republic of China, and Yasuhiro Nakasone, who served as the
Prime Minister of Japan, have visited the park, which is a global tourist
attraction that attracts over 1 million visitors every year with its 9 fantastic
themes.
- Hallim Park’s 9 Fantastic Themes-
1. Palm Tree Avenue
Composed of palm trees and cacti, Palm Tree
Avenue exudes the exotic atmosphere of southern climates, and the palm trees
planted as seeds in 1971 in the sandy field now create an impressive spectacle
as they rise into the sky.
2. Wild Grass & Flower Garden
Follow the Jeju Dolharubang with various
expressions standing on both sides of the Wild Grass & Flower Garden to
find beautiful wild flowers that bloom throughout the year, native plants
unique to Jeju, and a tranquil trail that connects to an eco-pond.
3. Hyeopjaegul Cave & Ssangyonggul Cave.
Hyeopjaegul Cave and Ssangyonggul Cave are
two-dimensional complex caves that began as black lava tubes created from the
lava flowing from the eruption of Hallasan Mountain, a volcano, before being
turned into golden limestone caves due to the limewater seeping in through the
cave ceilings and walls. Despite being lava tubes, the two caves contain
stalagmites and stalactites that can only be found in limestone caves, giving
them immense academic value that led to them being designated as Natural
Monuments.
4. Jeju Stone & Bonsai Garden
A theme park inspired by bonsai and stones,
Jeju Stone & Bonsai Garden contains various bonsai works and rare natural
stones that can be admired side-by-side. The bonsai works range from 10 years
to a whopping 300 years, and large strangely shaped rocks from the Amazon River
in South America work together with the bonsai works to present an exotic sense
of style.
5. Jae-Am Folk Village
Jae-Am
Folk Village, a folk village in Jejudo Island, seeks to preserve Jeju’s
traditional thatch houses, which are steadily vanishing with the development of
modern civilization, by restoring the actual thatch houses of the island’s
middle mountainous regions in their original forms. The village also displays
folk tools used by the people of Jeju in ancient times to recreate the past of
Jeju
6. Bird Garden
The Bird Garden is home to happy pairs of
mandarin ducks, peacocks with colorful feathers, parrots boasting beautiful
colors and bodies, Korean pheasants, and more. You can also see ostriches, the
